Maintaining momentum in driving winter holiday visitors to Tasmania

The increased funding will support Tourism Tasmania’s Off Season marketing campaign, industry support program, trade and airline partnerships, and bolster the state’s business, leisure and sporting events program.
As part of the increased funding, over 130 tourism businesses from around the state will receive support from Tourism Tasmania to develop and market their Off Season experiences and ensure visitors experience the unique experiences our state has to offer over winter.
The Government has also increased its investment in events by $800,000 to attract new mass participation events and to add to the already large portfolio of winter events the state has to offer locals and visitors.
It is anticipated that these additional events will drive visitation for events over the winter to over 30,000 delivering an additional 156,000 bed nights.
Investment in a second edition of the Event Marketing Tasmania – Winter 2024 Edition, will provide grants to those events being held in the winter months will have access to funding to support their interstate marketing.
Over 70 events will be hosted statewide during the winter months to appeal to both visitors and locals including major sporting events.
Business Events Tasmania has secured more business events and conferences through increased investment provided by the government through the Business Events Attraction Fund with 45 business events and conferences confirmed resulting in over 5,500 delegates to the state over the winter period.
To help with business planning over the April – August period, the Winter 2024 Program provides a monthly overview of key events, festivals and business events, along with an update on Tourism Tasmania’s Off Season brand campaign and partnership activity focused on driving visitors to the state.
