Social Impacts of Tourism

Tourism Tasmania, Tourism Research Australia and local councils have completed a further three research projects in the series examining social impacts of tourism within Tasmania communities. The most recent studies were in the Glenorchy, Break O’Day and Kentish Municipalities.

Residents were asked about their perceptions of tourism within their community, the value of tourism to their local economy, and what they considered to be the impacts of tourism on infrastructure and community activities.

The results summary, along with previous studies into social impacts for Bruny, Flinders and King Islands, Dorset and Richmond can be obtained from Tourism Research Australia.
