Tasmania’s tourism experiences on show at annual Australian Tourism Exchange

Tasmanian tourism representatives and businesses participated in Australia’s biggest business-to-business travel trade event in Brisbane during 28 April – 1 May 2025.

Tourism Tasmania led a group of 29 Tasmanian tourism operators at the annual Australian Tourism Exchange, with over 3,000 appointments with potential buyers taking place across four days.

The Australian Tourism Exchange attracts over 700 influential travel distribution buyers and media delegates from around the world. The event also includes showcases and activations that focus specifically on products and experiences from right across Australia.

Around 255,000 international travellers visited Tasmania in 2024, spending $551.3 million in the state across the year, making the Australian Tourism Exchange a crucial opportunity for Tasmania’s tourism industry.

Travel agents and distributers are trusted by many overseas travellers when booking their holidays. They provide security and quality assurance, so it is vital that the tourism industry has a strong presence at trade events like the Australian Tourism Exchange.

Sarah Clark, CEO, Tourism Tasmania said it was exciting for Tasmania to be on show at this year’s Australian Tourism Exchange.

“We put a lot of planning and effort into ensuring Tasmania stands out at the Australian Tourism Exchange. We want international travel distribution buyers and media to understand and feel connected to Tasmania and see our state as a desirable holiday destination that is unique to Australia.”

“We are particularly excited to be participating in the ‘Destination Showcase’ focusing on farm and food trails from across Australia. Tasmania is a premium destination for agritourism, and we are delighted to have had Analiese Gregory, Anna Terry and Tim Parsons – who are all internationally recognised in their own right – join us to present the best of what Tasmanian agritourism has to offer.”

Tourism Tasmania will also support 34 international travel distribution buyers, and media delegates to visit Tasmania pre and post the Australian Tourism Exchange event. The visits are an opportunity for key international partners to have a first-hand experience of Tasmania’s tourism offerings across each region of the state.
