Latest visitor numbers

The latest Tasmanian Visitor Survey  shows a record 1.28 million people visited Tasmania in the 12 months to September 2017, up 8 per cent on the previous year.

It also shows that total visitor spending and total nights in the state during the year to September increased to $2.3 billion and 10.73 million nights respectively.

The data shows growth in visitor numbers across each regional area with more visitors exploring beyond our capital city and spending money on goods and services in the regions.

Tasmania also experienced a 17 per cent increase in international visitors to the state. Tasmania’s growth rate was higher than the national average and is the leading international visitor growth rate of all Australian states or territories in the year to September 2017.
