Promoting Your Events

As a destination marketing organisation we support the promotion of your events across our channels and within our work to drive demand and visitation.

Events and festivals are vital demand drivers locally, nationally and internationally for Tasmania's visitor economy, stimulating travel during shoulder periods and encouraging visitors to explore beyond the event itself. By providing a fixed date, events give travellers both emotional assurance through a sense of vibe and atmosphere, and functional certainty in knowing what they can experience and when. That combination of inspiration and commitment encourages visitors to plan and follow through on a holiday.

Our event resource guide offers practical tools for promoting your event effectively.

How events benefit the visitor economy

Events and festivals are important contributors to Tasmania's visitor economy, enhancing the state's culturally vibrant brand and often providing a trigger for visitation. They drive demand, stimulate travel during shoulder periods and encourage visitors to explore beyond the event itself.

The impact is measurable.

One off events such as the Foo Fighters in January 2026 sold out in 20 minutes, filling almost every room in Launceston and surrounds.

AFL matches, Supercars and National Rowing Championships drive substantial increases in commercial accommodation occupancy in northern Tasmania during periods that would otherwise experience lower demand. Similar patterns occur in southern Tasmania during Dark Mofo, Festival of Voices and Beaker Street Festival.

Research also shows that events can provide an anchor, structure and commitment to a holiday, and the events in Tasmania that most strongly appeal are unique, quintessentially Tasmanian experiences. Events play a strong role in increasing regional distribution, giving visitors reasons to explore other parts of the state.
