Visit program

A famil (short for 'familiarisation') allows travel trade professionals and media to experience Tasmania's tourism products first hand. These curated visits help delegates gain in depth knowledge so they can effectively promote and sell our destination.

Famils are an opportunity to showcase your business to travel agents, wholesalers, inbound tour operators and media from Australia and around the world. We encourage operators to support famil visits to generate coverage and drive visitation to Tasmania.

For more information on our famil program, get in touch with our famils team.

Trade events

We participate in domestic and international trade shows, events and missions to promote Tasmania and connect operators with travel distribution partners. These events provide face to face opportunities to meet with travel agents, wholesalers and inbound tour operators who can help bring more visitors to Tasmania.

We host regular webinars for the travel trade audience to promote Tasmania as a destination and keep agents informed about what's new. These sessions are an opportunity for operators to:

Present your product directly to travel agents and wholesalers

Share what makes your experience unique

Build relationships with trade partners who can promote your product

Increase awareness of your business in key distribution networks

If you're interested in participating in an upcoming trade webinar, have questions about working with travel trade or want to discuss opportunities for your business, get in touch with our team.

Travel Trade Communication

Through our Tassie Specialist Program and Tourism Australia's Aussie Specialist Program, we regularly share industry updates and new product features with our travel trade partners via email. Contact the trade team for more information on our eDM newsletter program to travel trade.

Industry Development

Building capability and knowledge in travel trade distribution helps strengthen Tasmania's tourism industry. We support operators on their trade journey through training programs, resources and industry partnerships.

Trade Ready Training

Becoming 'trade ready' means your business is equipped to work effectively with travel distribution partners. We support operators to develop trade skills through:

Tourism Trade Ready Program (TTRP), an eight module online course delivered by ATEC (Australian Tourism Export Council) covering how to engage with the travel distribution system. We offer scholarships for eligible operators, fully subsidising the $750 course fee.

Upon completion, participants may be eligible for subsidised attendance at major trade events including Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE).
