Tasmania is benefiting from growing participation in cycling, including mountain biking. The state is threaded with purpose built trails through distinctive landscapes.
Since 2015, more than 400 kilometres of trails have opened across Tasmania, including Blue Derby, Wild Mersey and Maydena, and entire towns are now geared around serving mountain bikers, presenting an opportunity for regional tourism operators. In the past year, nearly 35,000 visitors went mountain biking and another 23,000 went cycling.
Mountain biking is a key strength of our cycling tourism sector. For your business, a key benefit is regional dispersal, as riders travel throughout the state to experience different trail networks.
