Our latest visitation results are in, and we've hit an annual record of 1.4 million visitors in the year ending March 2026, up 4.8 per cent on the previous year and now 6.0 per cent above 2019 levels.
Driven by both a record number of interstate visitors and a 10.1 per cent increase in international visitors, these travellers spent $3.8 billion while exploring the state, up 7.8 per cent. Our international visitors alone spent a record $758.6 million, up 36.2 per cent on the previous year.

The interstate Visiting Friends and Relatives market was another standout, growing 16 per cent on last year, while Tasmanians themselves took 4.53 million trips around the state, up 5.0 per cent.
The Snapshot draws together results from the Tasmanian Visitor Survey along with data from Tourism Research Australia, and the Fast Facts document offers a handy at a glance summary. Both are useful for business planning, marketing strategy, grant applications and award submissions.
