Powering up for electric vehicles

If you’re a small to medium tourism businesses looking to become EV ready, you can now apply for a new Electric Vehicle Destination Charging Grant Program. The $250,000 program supports the installation of destination chargers for overnight visitors, putting you on the map for travellers to explore our regional areas in an EV.

The initiative will be delivered in two rounds, with total grant funding of $125,000 available for Round 1. Grants of up to $2,500 per charger are available, for a maximum of four chargers per business. Applications for Round 1 will be open from 3 July until 31 August 2026.

To help you leverage this market, we have launched our new electric vehicle (EV) travel guide which covers getting to Tasmania with an EV or hiring one on arrival, our charging network, road trip planning, and other practical tips and FAQs.

Sharing this guide with your customers will help to maintain confidence in Tasmania's EV network.

Understanding how EV travel and other sustainability initiatives meet the expectations of our domestic and international visitors is central to the 2030 Visitor Economy Strategy.
