From attending industry events and listening to podcasts, to enrolling in formal courses and subscribing to newsletters, Tasmania's tourism industry offers a wide range of professional development opportunities to help you stay informed, build new skills and grow your business.

Meet your industry colleagues in person 

Attending industry events allows you to hear from various tourism organisations and your fellow tourism operators about what's new, what's working and where things are heading. Tasmania's regional tourism organisations (RTOs) host regular events for tourism operators to stay connected and informed and the Tourism Industry Council Tasmania runs an annual events program including a conference for tourism industry professionals.

There are numerous podcats, webinars and videos produced by industry leaders as well as industry newsletters that you can subscribe to, inluding our own, to ensure you are kept up to date on the latests news.

Tasmanian Hospitality and Tourism Academy: Courses reflect local needs and trends while giving you hands on experience and the skills to succeed in tourism.

Tasmanian School for the Visitor Economy, TasTAFE: Provides tourism and hospitality training courses designed in partnership with industry.

Tasmanian Leaders: Runs a year long leadership program for participants from a broad range of experiences, backgrounds and sectors. i-Lead is a nine week high impact program with a blend of online and in person learning.

Brand Tasmania: Runs a series of storytelling workshops to help tourism operators identify and share their story.

University of Tasmania (UTAS): Offers a series of online and in person undergraduate, postgraduate and bachelor degrees, diplomas and certificates in tourism.

Tasmanian Hospitality and Tourism Jobs: A dedicated portal that connects job seekers with tourism and hospitality businesses across Tasmania. It's a free and easy to use platform tailored specifically for the local industry. 

Seek: Lists a wide range of hospitality and tourism roles throughout Tasmania, including positions in guest services, food and beverage, tour guiding, and more. 

Indeed: Aggregates job listings from various employers, offering opportunities in areas like travel consulting, housekeeping, and resort management.
