Travel Vouchers

The Tasmanian Tourism industry has shown resilience and innovation following the devastating impacts of COVID-19. However, tourism operators are still facing major challenges, particularly as we deal with the effects of the latest border restrictions.

In response, the Tasmanian Government has announced a fresh round of the successful travel voucher incentive scheme to encourage Tasmanians to support local businesses and experience their home State.

As part of a new $7.5 million program, people who reside in Tasmania and are aged 18 years and older can enter a ballot for a travel voucher to spend on accommodation and tourism experiences.

The vouchers are able to be used 7 days a week and can be used on multiple occasions until 24 September, and are worth $300 each, with the initiative offering up to $200 for accommodation and $100 for tourism experiences.

Experiences could include packaged food and wine tours at producers’ venues, coach and small group day tours or even rental car hire.

The last round of vouchers generated an estimated $27.5 million in additional spending in the State, supporting countless businesses and providing significant flow on benefit to hospitality businesses and regional economies.

Tasmanians will be able to register their interest for a voucher via phone or email between 5 and 9 August 2021, with successful recipients to be notified on 11 August 2021.
