Larapuna / Bay of Fires makes BBC's global best list

One of Tasmania’s most beautiful and culturally significant stretches of coastline continues to draw global attention: Larapuna / Bay of Fires was named Australia’s Best Beach for 2025 by Tourism Australia, and now it's included in BBC’s list of the ‘World’s Best Beach Escapes’

Curated by BBC editors around the world – including Ellie Cobb, who experienced Larapuna / Bay of Fires on a tour with wukalina Walk – it was the only beach in Australasia to make the list.

Ellie captured what many people feel when they visit this special place, and Tasmania more broadly: “I fell in love with this place for the feeling of being at the edge of the world.”
