The Right to Information Act 2009 provides another way for the public to access information held by government bodies and gives members of the public an enforceable right to information about the operations of Government and information held by public authorities and Ministers.
The objectives of the Act are to:
Applications for an Assessed Disclosure under the Right to Information Act 2009 must be made in writing using the RTI Application form.
Make sure you have looked for the information you are requesting before you make a formal application, because if the information is otherwise available your application may be refused without the return of your application fee.
Once you have submitted the application Tourism Tasmania may contact you to clarify or gain further information regarding your application. Progressing the application should typically not take more than 20 working days, however if the application is complex, requires involvement of another public authority or consultation with a third party, or you have requested a lot of information we may ask for more time to respond to your application.
If we decide not to disclose all, or part, of the information you have applied for, we will provide the reasons for the refusal together with details about your right to seek a review of the decision.
