The Hon. Jane Howlett MP
Jane Howlett is the Tasmanian Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events, as well as Minister for Racing and Minister for Women and the Prevention of Family Violence. Elected to the seat of Lyons, Jane brings a background in small business and a strong connection to regional Tasmania. She is committed to supporting the growth of our visitor economy and ensuring tourism continues to benefit communities across the state.

Board of Directors

Our Board is appointed by the Governor of Tasmania on the recommendation of the Minister for Tourism. Board members bring diverse skills and experience from tourism, aviation, marketing, hospitality, and business leadership to guide Tourism Tasmania's strategic direction. Our CEO, Sarah Kingston Clark, also serves as a Board member.

Grant O'Brien (Chair)
Grant is the Chair of the Tourism Tasmania Board of Directors. Growing up on the north west coast of Tasmania, Grant entered employment with Woolworths Limited in 1987 as an Assistant Accountant and rose through the ranks to become CEO and Managing Director, a position he held between 2011 and 2016. 
 
A member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors since 2011, Grant was Chair of the Port Arthur Historic Site Management Authority from December 2019 until May 2025 and was until recently the Chair of the Australian Sports Foundation and Deputy Chair of the Stars Foundation. He was also a member of the Tasmanian AFL Taskforce and is currently the inaugural Chair of the Tasmania Devils Football Club.

Sarah Kingston Clark (Board Member and CEO)
As the Chief Executive Officer for Tourism Tasmania, Sarah leads tourism demand, brand, aviation and the visitor economy strategy for Tasmania.
 
A born and bred Tasmanian, Sarah brings more than 20 years of global tourism experience to the role. She began her career as a tour guide with Topdeck Travel, working her way up to Global General Manager in London, she has been a part of global senior leadership teams across Flight Centre, STA Travel, and Intrepid Travel. Before being appointed Chief Executive in 2022, Sarah was Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand at Intrepid Travel, while also sitting on the Tourism Tasmania Board.
 
Sarah also currently sits on the boards of Business Events Tasmania and Brand Tasmania.

Rod Cuthbert (Director)
Rod is a pioneer in the online sector of the travel industry. He was the founder, Chairman and CEO of global experiences marketplace, Viator, and the Chairman and CEO of multi-modal journey planner, Rome2rio. He is a Director of Veltra, Japan's leading online travel agency. Rod grew up in Tasmania and has extensive experience in global markets.
 
In 2024 Rod was inducted into Phocuswright's online travel industry Hall of Fame.

Shane O'Hare (Director)
Shane is a senior aviation and tourism executive with extensive CEO and Board experience across airports, airlines, and destination organisations in Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, Europe, and the USA. Currently CEO of Queenstown Airport (ZQN), he previously served as CEO of Launceston Airport and on the Executive Committee of Melbourne Airport. Shane is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (FAICD).

Daniel Leesong (Director)
Daniel is a Tasmanian tourism and hospitality entrepreneur, founder of Coal River Farm, one of Tasmania's leading artisan producers with more than 100 international awards. He is Chair of the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens. His 28 year industry contribution includes roles as CEO of the Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania and State Director of the Tasmanian Hospitality Association. He is passionate about sustainable tourism development.

Carolyn Miller (Director)
Carolyn (BA Comms, MBA, GAICD) is a strategist with more than 20 years' experience in advertising and marketing. She is a regular panellist on the ABC's 'Gruen' and Founding Director of communications consultancy The Honeycomb Effect, with clients including Nespresso, Yahoo!, Lendlease and the Australian Institute of Sport. She is frequently engaged as a speaker at tourism and events conferences.

Penny Rafferty (Director)
Penny is Executive Chair of Luxury Lodges of Australia, leading the association since 2010. She led the development of Tourism Australia's Sustainability strategy 2020-2024 and premium/luxury strategy 2017-2020. She was a member of the Virtuoso Sustainability Council and sits on the inaugural Condé Nast Traveler Global Advisory Board. She is also a director of Arkaba Environmental Projects and Mentor for The Conscious Travel Foundation.

Lindene Cleary - Chief Marketing Officer
Lindene leads all aspects of marketing the Tasmanian tourism brand across Australia and internationally, spanning brand communications, PR, content, digital marketing and partnerships. She stepped into the CMO role in November 2022 after five years as Tourism Tasmania’s Head of Brand Marketing.
 
Before joining Tourism Tasmania, she built her career with internationally recognised organisations including The Coca-Cola Company and Diageo, and within agencies, across brand, marketing communications and digital. With more than 20 years' experience, Lindene has worked in Sydney, Singapore, London and Seoul. A passionate Tasmanian, she is proud to tell the island state's story to the world.
 
Lindene also sits on the Visit Northern Tasmania and Australian Tourism Data Warehouse boards.

Alastair Macleod - Chief Business Officer
Alastair has accountability for the areas of Strategy, Government Relations and Communications, Commercial, Finance, Corporate Services, Governance and Compliance functions.

 
Alastair has spent twenty years working across Australia, the UK and Asia in financial markets and commercial leadership, with companies including Bell Potter, Deutsche Bank and Western Union. Most recently he was Finance Director and Co Founder of a healthcare business he helped build, grow and sell, picking up a Telstra Business Award along the way.

Jen is a technology leader who has built her career across multiple industries, from resources and banking to government and professional services.
 
With more than 20 years technology leadership in Australia, the UK and Ireland, she specialises in AI adoption and organisational transformation, with a track record of translating what technology and AI can do into capability organisations can use.
 
At Tourism Tasmania, she is building the capability for a destination ready for a world where AI is changing how travellers discover and plan.

Working in Australia, New Zealand and North America across the public, not for profit and private sectors, Anne brings a strong destination development and stakeholder focus to the work of Tourism Tasmania.

Anne is a people and transformation leader with a career spanning a broad range of industries working across private industry, start-ups, global enterprises and government. She brings a genuinely global perspective to her work, having led teams across the Americas, EMEA, India and APAC at executive level, with board-level accountability for people strategy and organisational performance.
 
At Tourism Tasmania, Anne leads the People and Transformation team with a focus on building organisations that are fit for the future — embracing modern ways of working, harnessing technology, and creating experiences that work for customers, employees and the communities they serve.
