Tourism 21 - The Conversion Challenge

Cover of updated document - released mid July 2001JOINT INDUSTRY / GOVERNMENT STRATEGIC BUSINESS PLAN - IMPLEMENTATION ACTION PLAN 2001/02

Foreword

This joint Implementation Plan for Tourism 21 is based on the assumption that if the outcomes of this Strategic Business Plan are to be achieved, all sectors of the industry must be involved in its implementation.

This will require not only the joint partners Tourism Council Tasmania and Tourism Tasmania to show leadership in the implementation, but also industry organizations such as the Regional Tourism bodies and the Local Tourism Associations to adopt a higher profile and hands on role, and individual tourism operators to recognize what they must do to be part of the new approach.

A critical part of this is the growth and adoption of a 'networks' approach to conveying information and working together, particularly with the concepts of product bundling and distribution. All operators can be part of this approach regardless of scale - it is a matter of recognizing where opportunities lie and with whom networks need to be established to get product to market.

The Plan is also the means by which the performance of industry and Government through Tourism Council Tasmania (TCT) and Tourism Tasmania (TTas) can be measured
