Regional Marketing Strategy - Zone Marketing: What progress have we made so far?

So far, all Zone Marketing Groups have met at least once with most having started their marketing plans.

Since introducing the new zones Tourism Tasmania has held a briefing day attended by all Zone Groups and delivered a number of presentations to local government, Regional Tourism Authorities and Local Tourist Authorities.

To help the groups implement the most effective plans possible Tourism Tasmania also undertook consumer research in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. The insights gained from this research have been presented to the ZMGs to help facilitate and guide the development of their marketing plans. The research outcomes will be available on our corporate website soon.

Tourism Tasmania has also developed the look, feel and brand elements for each zone based on the inputs from the regional workshops held late last year.
The next steps for the groups include reviewing the research and completing their marketing plans.

All groups have indicated that their first activity under their marketing plan will be to produce their Holiday Planner for distribution to consumers interstate.

Tourism Tasmania has also restructured the Discover Tasmania website and will realign the 2008-09 discover Tasmania Book to reflect the new zones and will soon integrate key zone brands in our National Brand strategy, including tactical marketing.
