Tasmania on Show to the World

Tasmania’s tourism products and experiences will be on show to international travel buyers at the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) in Adelaide this Saturday 29 May to Friday 4 June.

ATE is Australia’s top tourism trade event and is the largest international travel trade show in the southern hemisphere. The tourism exchange provides a forum for Australian tourism businesses to showcase their products, meet overseas contacts and negotiate new business opportunities with buyers from overseas.

Over 600 buyers from 40 countries will attend the event providing a fantastic opportunity to tell them about the many world class experiences available to visitors in Tasmania today. Fifteen of Tasmania's top tourism operators are attending ATE to promote their businesses to this international audience.

Tourism Tasmania will host two networking events over the seven day tourism exchange during which delegates will be treated to some of Tasmania’s finest food and wine. Tourism Tasmania will also host a ‘Friends of Tasmania’ dinner in partnership with Pure Tasmania.

As well as the many overseas buyers there will be some 60 international travel media and domestic journalists at ATE, reporting to millions of people worldwide on what’s new in the Australian travel and tourism industry.

Following on from ATE, a team of Tasmanian tourism delegates is going to North America for a six-day schedule of trade and media events in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Vancouver.

Delegates will meet key travel and tourism industry agents and give product updates to a range of stakeholders to raise awareness of Tasmania as the top destination for soft-adventure wilderness and wildlife, food and wine experiences.

Ferry Service Celebration

The Spirit of Tasmania Bass Strait ferry service celebrated its 25th birthday yesterday. More than six million passengers have made the sea voyage between Devonport and Melbourne over the past 25 years. To mark the occasion, TT-line yesterday launched a new booking system and an internet booking platform. These enhancements to the ferry service will make travelling across Bass Strait easier for visitors to Tasmania and will further encourage intrastate visitation.
