
Representatives from the Glamorgan Spring Bay Council, the Freycinet Coast Tourism Partnership, the Break O’Day Council and the St Helens Chamber of Commerce and Tourism joined forces at an all-regions meeting held in Launceston on Tuesday 7 February. Participants reported that it was good to discover the progress being made by the other regions towards the new industry-led regional tourism entities, and to be briefed on progress by the East Coast region’s recently appointed project manager and consultant - Bill Fox.
In late 2011, the East Coast Tourism Working Group announced that industry consultation for a new east coast tourism region would take place in late February. The working group have now resolved the dates for a series of workshops for councillors, industry groups and interested tourism operators.
The workshops are:

22 February – An industry forum is being held at the Portland Hall, St Helens from 10am-12 noon. The industry forum is open to all east coast tourism operators, councillors and others interested in the formation of a local regional tourism organisation. 23 February – A forum will be held for councillors from the Glamorgan Spring Bay and Break O’Day municipalities in Bicheno between 10an and 12 noon. The General Managers from each council will be advising their councillors of the venue and providing further details.
