Pilot Signature Experience Development Program Announces Participants

Minister for Tourism, Michelle O'Byrne, today announced the names of those businesses selected to take part in Tourism Tasmania's Pilot Signature Experience Development Program.

"This pilot program aims to assist existing tourism operators to build their skills and knowledge to make their business stronger and to further develop Tasmania’s competitive advantage.

A signature experience can be defined as ‘one that consistently meets or exceeds visitor expectations, fits with our unique brand and showcases the very best Tasmania has to offer", Ms O'Byrne said.

"There was strong interest shown by many operators across Tasmania for this pilot business development program ", said Ms O'Byrne.

A total of 27 operators submitted formal applications to participate and of these seven were selected for the program.

Successful applicants were considered to be businesses that could benefit the most from the developmental initiatives that this program aims to provide.

The successful applicants are as follows:

Curringa Farm, Go Wild Tasmania, Grandvewe Cheeses, Inverawe Native Gardens,
Lavender House – Lavender Fields Tasmania, Old Cable Station and Roaring 40's Wilderness Tours.

The pilot program provides individually tailored and group development opportunities over a 12-month period.

Participants will have access to a number of opportunities including mentoring, business support, research, business intelligence, networking and partnership opportunities.

"The Pilot Signature Experience Development Program complements other recent Tourism Tasmania initiatives such as the Start Point and Building Visitor Experiences websites, and the Insights Program to support tourism industry development in Tasmania.

"Together these initiatives are strengthening Tasmania’s tourism industry and contributing to Tasmania being recognised as a destination of choice", said Ms O'Byrne.
