Grants Program adds more to the Tasmania Experience
11 August 2008
The Tasmanian Visitor Information Network (TVIN) Experience Assistance Program aims to enhance state-wide visitor services through business expansion and development, fostering innovation and enhancing existing services and facilities.
Announcing the 2008-09 program today, the Premier and Acting Minister for Economic Development and Tourism, David Bartlett, acknowledged the important role the Tasmanian Visitor Information Network plays in building exceptional holiday experiences for visitors to Tasmania.
“The Tasmanian Visitor Information Network is a key on-the-ground service that enables visitors to Tasmania to access local and state-wide information, and tailored products and booking services through high quality face-to-face interaction,” said Mr Bartlett.
“Tourism Tasmania’s TVIN Visitor Experience Assistance Program supports continuous improvements in the provision of these services, and aims to ensure visitors to our State have access to the very best Tasmania has to offer.
“This will in turn increase the visitor’s engagement with our tourism industry operators and their tourism experiences, which has obvious economic benefits for the State,” he said.
Mr Bartlett announced that $610,000 will be made available in 2008-09 for registered yellow ‘i’ information centres under three separate funding categories:
Tier 1: Major Visitor Centre Projects - Grants up to $150,000
Tier 2: Regional Visitor Servicing Projects - Grants up to $50,000
Tier 3:Individual Centre Visitor Servicing Projects - Grants $2,000 to $5,000
Applications for the 2008-09 program close on 29 August 2008.
