TENDERS FOR CRADLE SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT
Tenders have been called for the construction of a new Cradle Valley Centralised Sewage Scheme.
The Minister for Tourism, Arts and the Environment, Paula Wriedt, said this signals a new phase in the $12 million project to develop a new treatment plant for Cradle Valley.
“Cradle Mountain is one of the best known and significant tourism destinations in Tasmania,” Ms Wriedt said.
“A range of stakeholders, including relevant Government departments, local government, Cradle businesses and other stakeholders have been involved in working through the many issues associated with the development of a new sewage treatment plant.”
Ms Wriedt said the necessary regulatory approvals for construction have now been achieved.
Construction of the plant is planned to begin in November and the plant is expected to be operating in November 2008.
