HAWTHORN BRINGS HIGH POWERED FRIENDS TO TASSIE
Hawthorn Football Club is hosting 50 senior executives from its major corporate partners to a luxurious long weekend in Tasmania.

The visit has been timed to coincide with Sunday’s match between the Hawks and the Kangaroos at Aurora Stadium.

“It’s a sign of the club’s pride in its new home ground that it has chosen to thank its partners for their support with a holiday in Tasmania,” said the Minister for Tourism, Arts and the Environment, Paula Wriedt.

Hawthorn Football Club Chief Executive Ian Robson said the visit was a great opportunity for the Club to thank its major corporate partners for their support while showcasing the best Tasmania has to offer.

“Hawthorn Football Club is continuing to build relationships with local Tasmanian industry and wants to bring our corporate partners in contact with Tasmanian businesses.”

Ms Wriedt said the group would be enjoying some of the State’s signature experiences, with a night at the Country Club Resort, a round of golf at Barnbougle and wine tasting.

“But the highlight will definitely be the clash between the high-flying Hawks and the mighty Roos, both in the top four and hungry to secure a position in the finals.”

Ms Wriedt said the visit by Hawthorn’s guests would add to the excitement in Launceston this weekend as crowds from across Bass Strait and other parts of the state flocked to the match.

“Tickets to the game are selling fast, and visitors will be making the most of Launceston’s attractions before and after the event.

“In a stroke of good fortune for locals and visitors alike, one of Tasmania’s tourism icons, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, will be playing at the Albert Hall on Saturday night, along with Dutch cellist Pieter Wispelwey.

“Tasmania’s partnership with the Hawks has breathed life into northern Tasmania’s winter and added a vibrant edge to Launceston’s character.”

The match kicks off at Aurora Stadium at 1.10pm on Sunday 29 July.
