TOURISM TASMANIA'S PRESTIGIOUS WIN
Tourism Tasmania has been honoured at the prestigious Australian tourism and travel accolades.

The Australian Federation of Travel Agents has acknowledged the work of Tourism Tasmania at the National Travel Industry Awards held in Sydney last night.

Tourism Tasmania was nominated in the category Best Tourist Office (National), which it won over Tourism Victoria, Tourism Queensland, Tourism Northern Territory and the South Australian Tourism Commission.

“Tourism Tasmania’s win is an outstanding achievement in today’s challenging domestic tourism market,” said the Minister Tourism, Arts and the Environment, Paula Wriedt.

“The nomination itself was particularly significant because it was made by travel agents, as opposed to the tourism offices themselves.

“The award is also testament to Tourism Tasmania’s travel agent training program.

“Agents with a high level of product knowledge can inspire their customers with their recommendations and enthusiasm.

“At the moment Tourism Tasmania is conducting its annual Australia-wide program of Tasmanian roadshows, which allow agents and wholesalers to build their knowledge through face-to-face contact with Tasmanian suppliers,” she said.

Tourism Tasmania’s Director Marketing and Commercial Operations, Jan Ross, accepted the award in Sydney.

Tasmania's Temptations Holidays was also nominated in the Best Wholesaler - Australian Product category.
