TASMANIA'S TRAVELLING ROADSHOW
Tourism Tasmania is embarking on its annual Australia-wide roadshow to ensure travel agents are fully briefed on Tasmania and its holiday product and experiences.
The Minister for Tourism, Arts and the Environment, Paula Wriedt, said Tourism Tasmania’s trade support division has been working closely with Tasmanian suppliers of holiday product to ensure the training and education sessions are both valuable and productive.
“The eight-week roadshow consists of 30 workshops across six states and territories,” Ms Wriedt said.
“Already some 1,400 travel agents have committed to attend so they can renew their contacts with tourism suppliers, and to arm themselves with new information to better sell Tasmania as a destination.
“More than 30 Tasmanian suppliers of holiday product will be talking face-to-face with the travel agency retail staff, broadening their understanding of the State and its holiday experiences,” she said.
Agents will be briefed on the soon-to-be-released Discover Tasmania book – a new publication that combines the former Tasmania’s Temptations Holiday Book and the Tasmania Holiday Planner.
“The travel agents will be presented with Discover Tasmania USB wristbands containing information on new products, major Tasmanian events, city maps, articles, and details of Tourism Tasmania’s national sales managers.
“The workshops also provide a platform for Tourism Tasmania and the State’s tourism suppliers to revisit and build relations with travel agent customers, to ensure that Tasmania is top-of-mind when they return to their offices.
“Tasmanian food and beverage will also feature at the workshops where possible, to help reinforce the Tasmanian brand."
The first workshop was held in Newcastle, New South Wales, last night.
