JETSTAR OFFERS INSPIRATIONAL FARES TO OUR ISLAND OF INSPIRATION
Jetstar and Tourism Tasmania have combined their marketing expertise in a series of television advertisements to entice visitors to Tasmania.

“This campaign uses Tourism Tasmania’s “Island of Inspiration” branding in advertisements offering great promotional airfares to Launceston and Hobart from our key markets of Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne,” said the Minister for Tourism, Arts and the Environment Paula Wriedt.

“Each of Jetstar’s retail advertisements will air following one of Tourism Tasmania’s own highly successful brand television advertisements.

“By combining our advertising in this way we will increase the impact of both advertisements.”

The advertisements will appear until late July on free-to-air television in Sydney, Melbourne, Regional Victoria and regional New South Wales, as well as nationally on SBS and Pay TV.

“Cooperative marketing is another way of making our advertising dollars go further,” Ms Wriedt said.
“We sell the destination while Jetstar provides the product offer.

“I’m hoping the result is greater impact which will see to more people visiting our State.”

Ms Wriedt said the combination of Tourism Tasmania’s own television advertising and its cooperative marketing with Jetstar were timed to build on the gains reported in the results of the latest Tasmanian Visitor Survey announced by the Treasurer at today’s Tasmanian Tourism Conference in Launceston.

“Total visitor nights in the 12 months to March 2007 are six per cent higher than in the preceding 12 months, and spend is up 13 per cent,” Ms Wriedt said.

“Visitors are staying longer in Tasmania and spending more while they’re here.

“Tasmania is on the radar of domestic travellers and this is great news for our industry.”
