THE HAWKS AND TASMANIA - FLYING TOGETHER!
The Tassie Hawks win against the reigning premiers was a great result for the club and an even better result for Tasmania.

The Minister for Tourism, Arts and the Environment, Paula Wriedt, today said the Indigenous Round of the AFL competition was just another example of Tasmanians showing the world what we can do.

“Millions of dollars were poured into the northern economy over the weekend as a result of the game.

“That money helps grow the economy and as a result allows for more to be spent on other services such as health, roads and police.

“The Tassie Hawks deal has also got the state enormous exposure in the mainland press and television and the Indigenous Round gave Tasmania a chance to showcase our progressive policies in this area.

“The football exposure comes at a time when the state is aggressively pushing our new TV commercials on the mainland and reminding Australians that Tasmania is a great destination.

“The gloves are off and we are starting to make traction in our North American markets as seen with the comments at the recent Trenz Tourism Conference in New Zealand that highlighted Tasmania as a threat to their business.

“New Zealand has a great brand and product and the fact that we are being considered a threat in itself is recognition that we are starting to get traction in these important markets.”
