Responsible Travel Campaign - UK

Tourism Tasmania is delighted to announce a new partnership with the world's leading online eco-travel portal – Responsible Travel. This campaign gives Tasmanian operators the chance to join responsibletravel.com for no or minimal cost, and in turn be promoted on the Responsible Travel website and also via a new Smartphone App designed specifically to promote Tasmania. The app will be promoted via an extensive marketing campaign, and aims to drive business to the Tasmanian products listed on www.responsibletravel.com.

Founded in 2000, www.responsibletravel.com is the world's leading online travel portal for responsible, green and sustainable tourism. It is a membership organisation which only promotes trips and accommodation providers that are run in a way that maximises the positive and minimises the negative impacts on the local community, economy and environment. Responsible Travel is specifically designed to generate bookings for smaller, rural and more specialist tourism operators and accommodation committed to responsible tourism. Responsible Travel have significant web traffic (350,000 visitors per month) and an extensive database (146,500 mailing list). Click here for more details about Responsible Travel see website About US on their website.

The deadline for getting pages live on Responsible Travel's website is Monday 9th January but we recommend that if you're interested you register immediately in order to ensure maximum exposure from this campaign.

Accommodation Providers

There is absolutely no cost involved for a basic listing for accommodation providers. Simply register your details to start building your company profile page. You can then log in to access your account. The most important thing is that each property is able to give specific details of how they minimise the negative impacts of tourism and maximise the positive impacts. More information on the 'Making a Difference' sections can be found here

Tour Operators

Tour operators will benefit from dedicated web pages and marketing in return for a small membership fee. Tourism Tasmania will pay for 50% of the first year's Responsible Travel membership fee for participating Tasmanian tour operators. This means that costs to your business in the first year starts from as little as £150 (approx AUD $250) + 7% commission. Accommodation providers can take advantage of this too if they would like marketing support from the outset.
