Tourism Tasmania's Digital Coach Program offers tourism operators free one-on-one coaching by specialists in the digital and e-commerce fields.
Tourism Tasmania developed the Digital Coach program in direct response to requests from tourism operators, since then over 460 participants have participated in rounds 1 and 2.
The FREE program gives participants access to experts in online marketing and distribution who work with participants as coaches.
Tourism Tasmania welcomes first-time participants into the program as well as those who participated in Rounds 1 and 2.
Operator sign-up for the third round of the Digital Coach initiative will open in early March 2012.
The program will run for 10 weeks from April – June 2012 and Tourism Tasmania is currently sourcing suitable coaches to run the program. The program is open to all Tasmanian operators.
The program is highly individualised and typical outcomes include:
The coaches will offer small group and one on one support, phone assistance and shared advice and support via the Tas e-connect on-line forum.
As part of the Digital coach work program our coaches will hold small group sessions for participants. A range of topics will be covered to assist your on line business development.
These sessions will be face to face and online – using an online real time interactive learning environment that enables the digital coaches and participants to interact and collaborate.

Comments from Round Two participants:
Just wanted to let you know that I have started to implement some of the things learnt at last weeks social media workshop. I now have great vimeo channels, my first fb link to my website directed over 30 hits to it, and have just published our first shortened video clip on facebook. The seminar was time well spent.

Just joined course in Hobart by computer! Thank you everyone for using this technology! I cannot attend courses due to our remoteness here on Three Hummock Island – great for those who cannot attend!

The Digital Coach program is something to make time for, and the more you put in to it the more you'll get out of it. Whether you need to establish an online presence, or tinker with what you have, I can't think of any reason to not take up the opportunity to benefit from the wisdom and experience of the Digital Coaches and to network and compare experiences with other tourism operators. As a consequence of my participation, I've developed my website, established a dialogue with customers and potential customers through social media, developed relationships with other tourism operators, seen an increase in inquiries and forward bookings, I can track how well my website's performing, and I've marveled at how people from 18 countries have discovered and Liked my facebook page. And if that last comment doesn't make sense to you, you definitely need to participate in the Digital Coach Program!
