The Annual Tasmanian Tourism Awards, presented by the Tourism Industry Council Tasmania, recognise tourism products, services, individuals and businesses that have achieved success and contributed to the tourism industry in Tasmania.
The Tasmanian Tourism Awards offer the following categories:
The Tourism Awards are held at both a state and national level. Initially, businesses enter the state Tourism Awards and winners in these categories are then automatically entered into the national Tourism Awards.

The Australian Hotels Association (AHA) Awards for Excellence provides hotels with the opportunity to showcase their pursuit of excellence. The categories and criteria reflects the diversity of AHA membership from city, suburban and country hotels, accommodation hotels and casinos.

Hotels are judged by an independent judging process, which is predominantly based upon on-site judging. This reflects the service aspect of the industry.

Every year BEC Australia holds awards for performance in business. To be eligible, the business must have been assisted by their local Business Enterprise Centre (BEC), and entered into the awards by the BEC. There are three categories – Best New Business, Best Home Based Business and Best Micro Business. These represent the major client groups assisted by BEC’s around Australia.

These awards are about recognising individuals, organisations and groups who are making a difference in our local communities and our State. There can never be enough encouragement and support for those working towards making our State a better place. This award will honour a highly successful Certified EcoGuide in the Australian tourism industry whose skills and experience demonstrate that they are of an exceptional standard. This award is only available to Ecotourism Australia ‘Certified EcoGuides’.

Applications are open to career focused young hospitality professionals, currently residing in Australia and working full-time in the restaurant industry. All of the entries are assessed by a judging panel comprising some of Australia’s leading chefs and restaurateurs. Once entries have been received, each judging panel selects participants from each state.
Two to three young chefs and waiters are selected from each state and four to five young restaurateurs are selected from around Australia

The HMAA Accommodation Industry Awards for Excellence in 2009 are NATIONAL awards. Members range from bed & breakfast operators to apartments, tourist parks, major international hotels and motels – a true Australian Accommodation association.The HMAA Accommodation Industry Awards for Excellence has been established to assist in maintaining a higher standard within the accommodation industry.

There are two separate awards programs. The Awards for Excellence for great interpretive projects and the commemorative Georgie Waterman Award for outstanding individual contribution to the profession. All awards are presented each year at the IAA AGM.
The IAA has Awards for Excellence to help foster greater professional interest in interpretation, increase community awareness of the nature and importance of interpretation and encourage the exchange of new ideas. IAA awards are now open to non-IAA Members.

The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) is hosting the Tasmanian Awards for Environmental Excellence.
The Awards recognise and reward contributions to the enhancement, preservation and protection of the Tasmanian environment.
The EPA invites entries from individuals, schools and industry, community and government sectors in seven award categories -

The Tasmanian Training Awards are conducted annually by the Department of Education’s Office of Post-Compulsory Education and Training (OPCET), in conjunction with the Tasmanian Learning Skills Authority.
The Awards recognise, reward and honour the achievements of apprentices, trainees and vocational students for their endeavours in gaining the highest standards of knowledge and skills within their industry.
They also recognise and honour the achievements of employers, small businesses and training organisations for their dedication to providing the highest quality training and enhancing the skills of the workforce in the state.
The awards offer finalists the chance to gain personal satisfaction and opportunities in their industry, as well as the enhanced prestige of being part of an elite group of placegetters who represent the State’s best in vocational education and training.
Awards are offered under the groups of Equity Awards, Student Awards and Business Awards.
As a guide, nominations close in June, short listed interviews take place in August and winners are announced in September.

The Telstra Business Women’s Awards have become an integral part of the Australian business calendar, celebrating the achievements of some truly remarkable women.
Telstra Business Women’s Awards occur at a state and national level. The purpose of the Young Achiever Awards is to acknowledge, encourage, reward and most importantly promote the positive achievements of young Australians aged between 14 and 26 years of age.
